Q: I am installing my Signal® mirrors and there are two extra wires that are not for the heated feature. What are they for?
A: Your vehicle is probably equipped with electrochromic (EC) mirrors. When installing Signal Mirrors® on a vehicle equipped with EC, there are two extra wires connected to the internal OE mirror. If you have an EC Signal Mirror® kit, connect these wires to the new mirror as indicated in the instructions. If you don’t these should be identified as the EC feature and should be tied off correctly so as not to short anything or interfere with the travel of the mirror.

Q: I have heated mirrors, but really don’t care about that feature. Can I use the unheated ones for my vehicle?
A: Yes, you can. It will be important to cap off the heater wiring in each mirror so you don’t short out the circuit. Also, make sure to locate the wires in an area that will not interfere with the travel of the mirror.

Q: I’ve installed the Signal® mirrors and now one (or both) mirror(s) also go on solid when I apply the brakes. What is going on?
A: Your vehicle has wiring that contains not only the turn signal, but the same wire also contains the brake signal. If you want to have the brake signal too, probe to locate the wire with the brake and turn in it. If you don’t want the brake feature, probe to find the correct one that carries only the turn signal. Q: The wire called out in the instructions isn’t where it’s supposed to be. Now what?
A: We do our best to call out proper wire colors and location(s) for the turn signal circuit. If you can’t find the wires, you will have to use your test light or voltmeter to locate the correct wires. We recommend you look at the color of the wires at the taillights first and see if those wire colors carry up to the dash area. Find wire colors at tail light harness:

Q: My factory mirrors have a black plastic backing, which gives them a thicker look. The Signal® mirrors do not have this backing. Is this okay?
A: The Signal® mirror was designed to be a “floating mirror” and will not affect your view in any way. The size of the Signal Mirror® glass has been adjusted to compensate for the lack of the backing.

Q: The Signal Mirror® mounting does not look like the original mounting. What is going on?
A: Verify that you do have the correct kit for your vehicle. If you do, then compare the pictures in the instructions to what you are seeing in the housing. Many times, it’s possible to actually remove part of the motor mount when you are removing the original mirror. If you have done this, remove the piece from the back of the mirror and reinstall it carefully onto the motor.

Q: I installed my Signal Mirrors®, but now my fuses keep going out. What would most likely cause this?
A: This is most likely due to a short in the newly installed wiring. You will need to trace the Signal Mirror® harness to see if there are any breaks in the casing of the wiring that may allow the wire to short out the circuit and blow the fuse. When you find the damaged area, shrink wrap it or wrap it in electrical tape to prevent the short.

Q: I had my Signal® mirrors installed and suddenly my mirror does not light up when the turn signal is on. What happened?
A: Here are things to check:

• Check the fuse for the turn signal circuit.
Check the wiring for that mirror and verify that both connections have not come loose.
• Check behind the mirror itself to see if the mirror has been disconnected from the harness. If it has, plug it back in.
• If you had the mirrors professionally installed, go back to the installer for help.
